The annual Literary Festival is designed to inspire candidates to create outstanding pieces of work in the genres of prose and poetry. It is open to students from Grade two to Form six, and is also open to adults. A syllabus is announced in February to March each year, and the deadline for entries is in the third week of July. Up to 2019, the festival attracted an average of 2000 entries per year, and it remains the biggest of the four NIAA festivals.

Due to the covid pandemic, the 2020 festival was greatly curtailed, and 745 entries were received in an online festival, that culminated in a wonderful prize-giving at the Associatiosn of Trust Schools  offices at Chisipite School on the 27th November 2020.
